Common Questions about Tile Installation
How long does it take to complete the installation?
A typical bathroom takes us about seven days to complete. However, it all depends on the scope of work. It is really up to you. The features you choose and the level of detail that are required usually increase the time it takes to complete a job.
One thing is for sure, we will take however long it takes to complete your project the right way. We don’t like to rush because that usually leads to mistakes and we don’t like to take longer than needed because that would be a waste of time and money.
What are the costs involved in tile installation?
That is a really broad question. Here are some things to consider when it comes to costs.
-Preparation of surfaces: it involves the process of demolition (if needed), leveling of floors and walls, waterproofing wet areas, applying proper primers to all surfaces to receive tile, etc.
-Cost of rough materials: thinset, waterproofing membranes, uncoupling membranes, crack isolation membranes, fillers, cement/concrete, etc. We usually include these materials in our estimates to make sure we get the appropriate ones for each application.
-Cost of finishing materials: tile, grout, bullnose, metal edges, grout, etc. This is where you choose the material to your liking.

What type of tile is best suited for bathrooms and kitchens?
Luckily there are thousands of options nowadays. Each type of tile requires specific installation practices and a certain level of maintenance. In general terms, you want something resilient, like porcelain tile, for high traffic areas such as kitchens. For bathrooms, we have seen a lot of large format tiles being our customers’ preference lately. For classic looking spaces we recommend marble or stone tile but they require a bit more care.
We are happy to talk to you about options and requirements of the tiles you like. Feel free to get in touch with us.
What maintenance is required after installation?
As mentioned above, the material determines the maintenance routine. Most tiles only need regular cleaning with tile cleaning products. Natural stones may require sealing or re-sealing at certain time intervals. Again, this is part of our service, we can instruct you on how to best take care of your surfaces.
How messy is the job site while the work is being done?
Construction work is messy, but we are professionals and have learned how to minimize the debris and dust that is created. We use dust barriers and protect the floor where foot traffic is going to happen. In addition, we clean all areas where the work is being performed everyday.
Do I need to remove furniture and appliances before installation?
We ask you that you remove all personal items and small appliances before we arrive. We can help you with big heavy stuff.
Can I use the tiled space immediately after installation?
Usually, you should wait between 24 to 48 hours for everything to cure before cleaning or introducing moisture (like cleaning with water). Sometimes curing time is longer. In those cases we will let you know what are the proper procedures.
Do you offer a warranty on the installation service?
Yes, we offer a standard CT warranty of one year on our labor. We adhere to the TCNA (Tile Council of North America) guidelines for proper tile installation so that there are no failures in our work. Being that said, we have not had a call back since we are in business.
Can I choose custom designs or patterns for the installation?
Yes, we can create custom patterns and layouts for you. We enjoy the challenge of creating something unique. Let us know your vision, and we will work with you to make it happen.
Do the tiles need to be sealed after installation?
Some tiles, such as natural stone, need sealing to prevent stains, while others, such as ceramic or porcelain, may not need it. We will advise you based on your material choice.
Will this project increase the value of my home?
Usually, yes. It is said that bathrooms and kitchens provide the best return on investment when it comes to remodeling work. Obviously that depends on the value of the house and the amount of the investment.
